6 Things To Consider When Planning An Event

Planning an event can be stressful! The only way to stay on top of all your event tasks is having a well-organised task list and sticking to it. However, it can be tough trying to think of everything, to ensure the event runs perfectly. Here's 10 things to consider when planning an event.

1. Start with the big tasks

Don't waste time dabbling in the little details, begin your event planning by locking in the key parts of the event. The big tasks are things like the venue, the objection of the event, the attending list, the date, the time, the entertainment and the theme. Get these things organised and out of the way before starting on anything else.

2. Budget

One of the first things you should consider when planning an event is how much you're going to spend on it. Create a budget that is inclusive of absolutely everything, and make sure to stick it it. Be wary of any hidden fees and stay organised - keep a record of all of your budget spending.

3. Location

The location of the event is a huge part of how the event will play out. Make sure the venue is in an appropriate location (close to attendees), has reasonable parking, and can be accessed with public transport links. A desirable location is key to getting people to attend your event.

4. Entertainment

Depending on the nature of the event, you may want to consider some entertainment for your guests. Consider a DJ, show, performers, or a guest speaker. Make sure the entertainment is appropriate for the event and those who are attending.

5. Staffing

If your event is going to be large in size, consider hiring a group of trained staff members to work at your event. Polite Promotions are an events company that strongly recommend considering having well-trained event staff. They can hand out food, drinks, seat guests and help keep the schedule of the event. Hiring staff for your event is a great way to set an ambience and impress your guests.

7. Catering

Think about the experience you want your guests to have. Is it a sit down dinner, or a stand up drinks event? Either way, your guests will probably be peckish and will appreciate some nice food. Set up a deal with a caterer for food that is appropriate for the nature of the event.
